Good posture can greatly improve energy levels, mood, and sense of well being by limiting and preventing pain symptoms, faulty alignment, and other musculoskeletal injuries caused secondarily by poor posture. People with good posture are found to live longer and healthier. Poor posture might lead to series of conditions such as headaches, shoulder pain, pelvic pain, spinal pain (neck, thoracic, back), Joint pain (hip, knee and ankle pain), respiration problems (diaphragm being in faulty position), digestive problems, lower mood and self-esteem, fatigue, sleep disorders, and increased stress.

Faulty posture might be due to inflexible and tight muscles that decrease range of motion. For instance, tight anterior neck and shoulder muscles can pull your neck and shoulders forward. Muscle weakness affects posture in different ways. Weakness in “core muscles” (spinal, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles will cause slouching, moving the centre of the body forward. Good strength in scapular muscles will help stabilizing your shoulder and prevents shoulders rolling forward. Strong hip muscles help keep you steady when standing and walking.
